My paintings are
abstract, non-representational and based in nature. Nature for me
is synonymous with spirituality. Eastern Haiku poetry and koans, as
depicted through the centuries by the hermit monk poets of China and
Japan speak to my soul. My work is an important aspect of my search
for inner meaning on the WAY. The viewer becomes the subject in my
work.
Sometimes the process of my painting uses a non-verbal approach, although
frequently I make use of imbedded text. The gestural brushstrokes
are of a lyrical nature. When I am in the creative role in my studio,
I am one with the work, and contented. During the process and at the
completion of a painting, I am drawn into it in a meditative manner.
It is as though the creation of the painting has a life of its
own.
The painter and the painting are living in the "here and now".
The viewer will see in my paintings that which he or she wishes; however,
it is my hope that each individual will find the solace in viewing
that I have found in the creation, and that for a moment peace and
quiet will be found in an otherwise noisy world.
